how it started

The loveyourneighbour journey began with a visit to a little-known charity in Beltsi, Moldova. We spent a month with them, getting involved with their day-to-day. The team visited children’s mental homes offering whatever essential supplies and moral support they could, ran weekly soup kitchens for the elderly and operated a day centre for disabled children. We were overwhelmed by the sheer scale of needs in just that small part of the city! The work this charity does, and others like it, is huge and often daunting but we have discovered two precious truths. The first is that those in need are profoundly encouraged to know that someone from the ‘outside world’ cares about their plight. The second is that, in the hands of a grassroots charity, every little donated resource can go much further than we imagine.

Over the years since, we have worked with various charities, in Europe and Africa, who labour tirelessly to bring lasting change to the futures of vulnerable people in their communities.

Collectively, their work ranges from feeding the poor, carrying out home repairs for destitute families, educating street children to rehabilitating drug addicts, raising awareness about the plight of the disabled, visiting the sick in hospital, offering a message of hope to prisoners … and everything in between!

Our aim is primarily to facilitate connections between needs and resources through the loveyourneighbour platform.

By generating awareness and increasing visibility of the charities’ work, visitors to this site get an inside view into who they are, what challenges they are currently dealing with and what resources they are in desperate need of.

We are constantly liaising with the charities to get regular updates on the status of identified projects so that partners can see the positive impact their assistance has on the life of a neighbour.
